This is an image taken over the White River during our big snow storm a few weeks back. I save this gallery for those times when nature shows herself in ways that are very unusual. I guess that definition would be more or less dependent on where you live and the kinds of weather and geologic activity in your area. This storm was a record setter. Even though this is the White River, it is clearly looking black against the snow.

A lightning storm erupts over Crazy Horse Mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Here you can clearly see what the locals call Pele's Braids. They are referring the Pele, the Goddess of Fire and her braided hair.
