Pompeii, Italy was a unique destination. I planned on being there only an hour or two. Four hours later, I was still exploring the ancient city. On every street there is something new to discover. Many of the villas are larger then my house. Not bad for homes built 2000 years ago. The living accommodations in and around Pompeii for the locals is considerably smaller today then what it was 2000 years ago. Tile mosaics floors were also very popular in the larger villas. Many frescoes survive to this day.
